Shulsquita Weekend

Since both Anthony & I could not coordinate a common week to take off this summer we decided to take a few weekend trips.  The first one was our trip to Tucson with our friends, the Shulskis... Fred, Melissa, Hannah, Paul and Claire.  We drove up Friday morning and encountered a minor wind storm.  We were lucky, the storm was north/west of us, so we missed it.

We stayed at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort.  This place was awesome!  It was beautiful, had all the amenities you needed and the best part, had flavored water stations scattered throughout the resort.  That was the best!

We had a room that looked out to the front of the resort.  It was beautiful at night.  I tried to take a couple of night shots, but they didn't come out right.

This is a shot of the pool area.  There were two pools, a splash pad, a couple of hot tubs and a lazy river.  We had fun playing in all areas!

On Saturday, Anthony & Fred went golfing, while Melissa and I took the kids swimming.  We were out there for almost four hours!  And the kids didn't not get tired!  Hungry, yes. Tired, no.  So we met up with the boys, and went to lunch.  We want to try a place many people recommended but when we arrived there were about 30 people waiting to be seated! So, we tried the place across the street.

After lunch, we decided to go to Colossal Cave.  We had fun, the tour guide was a hoot!

On Sunday, Melissa and I had our "me" time at the spa getting pedis.  My first. And I loved it!  I'll be going at least monthly, going forward.

While we went to the spa, the boys took the kids swimming.

More swimming, showers, then it was time to leave.  Our time at Starr Pass went by toooooooo fast!

We decided to have lunch in the old pueblo before we left.  We went to Wings Over Broadway, a restaurant owned by our friend Roxanne's brother.  If you are ever in the Tucson area, STOP BY and have some BACON RANCH FRIES.  I wish I would have taken a photo of this, instead I have a photo of my sandwich and tater tots. :-) Which was delicious!

In addition, we were able to spend some time with a very special person, my God-Daughter, Celestina.  She is a junior at the university in Tucson. :-)  LOVE YOU CELESTINA!

Joshua fell asleep while waiting for his wings.  I guess I finally found the secret to getting him to sleep . . . let him swim, at least two hours a day for three straight days.  Seemed to do the trick!

And my last photo, is Joshua with the Most Interesting Man, who put him sleep. :-)

All in all it was a great weekend!  Can't wait until we can do this again! Vegas, 2014!

Disneyland - We're finally back!

It's hard to believe but after two years, the Mesquitas were back at Disneyland.  Well, only two of us, were at Disneyland.  Anthony did not want to go and Joshua, well, wasn't behaving at school (or home, for that matter) so he stayed home with Dad.

We missed the boys but we had a great time.  We went with Patti and Micah for the trip she won on the radio.  Thank you 95.5!  We stayed at the Grand Californian.  Here is our view:

We were right up to Disney's California Adventure, behind the Goofy Sky School ride.  Very cool! We were able to watch the World of Color from our room!!

We went to California Adventure on Friday and Sunday.  First ride (after the Trolley) was Tower of Terror.  I WILL NEVER GET ON THAT RIDE AGAIN!  Once was more than enough!

Later in the evening we met Tim, Andrea, Matthew and Tony.  They talked me into getting on California Screamin' for the first time ever.  I will probably never get on this ride again.  Maybe, only when Joshua is ready for the ride.

Alexandra got on the ride again with the Olijnyks!

Best part of California Adventure was Carsland.  WE LOVED IT!

Saturday we went to Disneyland.  Highlight . . . Space Mountain 3 times in one day!  Plus, we met Merida! :-)
Merida and Alexandra (I think she looks like Miss Connaty with red hair! I was expecting her to say "Hi, Alex!")

Back at Disneyland after two years.

Center of Disneyland

Finally! We finally rode the updated Star Tours.
It was a good trip! Nice to spend time with Alexandra.  And it's always a fun time with Patti.  Now, I have my work cut out for me.  I'm trying to talk Anthony in to going to Disneyland for Joshua's 10th birthday in August.

Thank you, Patti for taking me and Alexandra!!

TWENTY THINGS A MOTHER SHOULD TELL HER SON

I friend posted this on Facebook and I wanted to make sure I kept this forever.

TWENTY THINGS A MOTHER SHOULD TELL HER SON

1. Play a sport.
It will teach you how to win honorably,
lose gracefully, respect authority,
work with others, manage your time
and stay out of trouble.
And maybe even throw or catch.

2. You will set the tone
for the sexual relationship,
so don't take something away from her
that you can't give back.

3. Use careful aim when you pee.
Somebody's got to clean that up, you know.

4. Save money when you're young
because you're going to need it someday.

5. Allow me to introduce you
to the dishwasher, oven,
washing machine, iron,
vacuum, mop and broom.
Now please go use them.

6. Always treat people with the respect you wish to be treated with.

7. Don't ever be a bully
and don't ever start a fight,
but if some idiot clocks you,
please defend yourself.

8. Your knowledge and education is something
that nobody can take away from you.

9. Treat women kindly.
Forever is a long time to live alone
and it's even longer to live with somebody
who hates your guts.

10. Take pride in your appearance.

11. Be strong and tender at the same time.

12. A woman can do everything that you can do.
This includes her having a successful career
and you changing diapers at 3 A.M.
Mutual respect is the key to a good relationship.

13. "Yes ma'am" and "yes sir"
still go a long way.

14. The reason that they're called "private parts"
is because they're "private".
Please do not scratch them in public.

15. Peer pressure is a scary thing.
Be a good leader and others will follow.

16. Bringing her flowers for no reason
is always a good idea.

17. It is better to be kind
than to be right.

18. A sense of humor
goes a long way
in the healing process.

19. Please choose your spouse wisely.
My daughter-in-law will be the gatekeeper for me
spending time with you and my grandchildren.

20. Remember to call your mother
because I might be missing you.

LOVE YOU JOSHUA ANDREW!!

Snow Time

We started out the new year with a quick day trip to Flagstaff to play in the snow.  We were only there a few hours, but the the drive was worth it!  We met our friends, the Figueroas, Medranos and Morenos.  As always, it was a good time!

I love the smiles on their faces!   They really do love each other.

And thanks to Lori, I have proof that I was there, too!

And finally, this is Joshua on our way home.

It was a great way to start out our weekend.  We made it just in time to celebrate mass with some of the family, as the Saturday mass was being said for my Tata.  Tata, I thought of you as we were on our short road trip.  I was thinking of all the times we took the "scenic route." No matter where we went we had a good time!
